Kuwait Plans new Medical Centers

   The Ministry of Health will establish new clinics and hospitals with modern equipment to provide all medical services for Kuwaiti districts, in addition to carrying out reconstruction mission in the ministry.
   The ministry will launch construction of public hospitals in South Surra and three others for medical insurance, in addition to expanding several other hospitals.
   The hospital to be established in South Surra, would include 730 beds, whereas the other three hospitals will be located in Jahra, Farwaniya and Al-Ahmadi.
   The designs of the hospitals are based on the increase of populations for each district, in addition to outpatient’s clinics and emergency rooms, which contains developed medical equipment.
   Designs would absorb all conditions and circumstances, for patient and equipment movement within the hospital corridors.
   The hospital will also launch expansion missions of Al-Amiri hospital whereas the space around the hospital is very limited.The project also includes establishing a parking of several floors to solve the increasing number of patients and carsaround the hospital.
   As for the project of reconstruction of other hospitals, the ministry of health stated it would cost (nearly $100 million).

Friday-Saturday Weekend Mooted

  The Government of Kuwait has been urged to change its weekend to Friday-Saturday for the benefit of the country’s business sector and its international relations. The current weekend on Thursday –Friday is adversely affecting the business community and the economy and restricting its dealings with the outside world.
   At present, the business and financial sector in Kuwait has only three days to deal with its
customers and partners overseas because they shut on Thursday and Friday while foreign countries close on Saturday and Sunday. Kuwaiti Banks, most of the oil sector and a number of other financial establishments however have their day off on Saturday rather than Thursday besides Friday, the Muslim weekend.
   A number of Arab and Muslim countries have in recent years switched to a Friday - Saturday weekend on similar grounds.
