Six companies, out of the 37 pre-qualified, attended the pre-tender meetings in mid-January 2004 for two separate contracts in Kuwait covering the expansion of existing Gathering Centers (GCs) and Crude Oil Processing and Compressor Trains in western Kuwait. Bids are due to be submitted for both the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts on 22nd February 2004.
The larger of the two contracts, estimated to be worth $85 Million, calls for the revamp and extension of the medium crude processing facilities at GC-28. The scheme is aimed at handling an additional 40,000 barrels a day (b/d) of crude at GC-28, which is located at the Minagish field and has nameplate capacity of about 200,000 b/d. Located at Umm Gudair, the project involves increasing the capacity of the facility to 220,000 b/d from 190,000 b/d. The scheme also calls for the construction of a new desalter unit and the supply and installation of an effluent water separation facility. Parsons has completed the front-end engineering and design work. US-based Fluor Daniel is acting as Project Management Consultant and the client is Kuwait Oil Company.
KNPC Extends closing date for Pre-qualification
Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has extended the closing date to 16th February 2004, for international and local Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Procurement and Construction (PC) contractors to apply for prequalification for all its
future major capital projects. The pre-qualifications cover mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, marine and specialized field works. KNPC plans to invest of $ 1500 million over the next three years in five major projects.
